Needs assessment
We can help you think through the amount and type of living space you need to suit your lifestyle today, in five years and in ten years. We will work to understand your taste and preferred style for your home as well as your budget target. Articulating your needs and desires on paper is the starting point for great design.

Preliminary design sketches
We will document your vision in a preliminary design along with estimated budgets and preliminary specifications. Working with you, we will refine the drawings, budgets and specifications until we have the optimal design for you.

Scaled working drawings and a contract
After settling on the optimal design, we will prepare a set of scaled drawings, a quoted cost, schedules, a list of specifications and a contract for your approval. Once you approve the project, our interior decorator and landscape designer will meet with you to help you finalize interior and exterior design elements. We submit the approved working drawings to city authorities for permits.

Building process
We will hold a series of meetings with you before construction begins to review the schedule and site preparation work. We will review the timeline with you along with a list of critical path items. During construction, we will hold site meetings with you on a regular basis, at a time and frequency that is convenient for you. Changes occur in every project. We have a documented change process to ensure the cost and implications of every change are transparent to you, De Jong Homes and the trades working on your project.

Clean-up and disruptions
We take pride in maintaining a clean, organized job site. For renovations and additions, we take precautions at the beginning of a project to minimize dust and protect exposed walls, floors and driveways. On these types of projects, we also work to minimize disruptions to your life, changing the project schedule if necessary to meet your needs.
